How to Relist items on eBay (The Right Way)

We all have those items in our inventory that hang around for way too long. No matter how many times we delist and relist the items, they just don't seem to sell. To get the most out of relisting your items on eBay, you have to take a few key steps to 'trick' the algorithm and get your items back to the top of search. By doing this you greatly increase your views, watchers, and chances of making a sale.

The recipe to relisting success

To optimize your eBay relisting, take these steps:

  1. Delist your item and click sell similar: To start off, you want to choose the item you want to relist and delist it. Then from your inventory, hit the dropdown by the item name and select 'sell similar.'

  2. Slightly change the title: Go to your item title and slightly change the title, this can be done by just rearranging some of the words or taking out any unnecessary elements present in the title.

  3. Change the description by a few words: Just like the title, we want to make sure our description is similar, but not quite the same to what it was before. I usually go ahead and just add a few more adjectives to describe my item and call it a day.

  4. Adjust the price: Once again, we are going to make a very slight change to our listing and bump the price up or down a dollar

  5. Take new photos: This step is by far the most important — and most annoying — part of the process. Using the same item, we want to retake all our photos. It doesn't matter if all the angles and lighting is practically the same. We just want to refresh our listing with some new images.

  6. Check sold item comparisons: The last step before we can relist our item, is check sold item comparisons. Any seasoned eBay seller knows how important this is because it let's us know if we are pricing our competitively. Selling your item for too much, or too little, is a surefire way to miss out on potential sales and have your listing fall to the wayside.

Why is it important to do all this?

Unlike many other reseller platforms, the eBay algorithm is quite sophisticated. Gone are the days where you could just refresh your inventory with the click of a button and flood the search with bad and underperforming listings. Only by taking all these steps can we 'trick' the algorithm and have eBay push our items to the top of the search. Goin the extra mile to relist your items properly makes all the differences when it comes to making those extra sales you need.
